crystal_lucid @ 2004-11-27 08:56 | 编辑 2004-11-27 08:55 - [ 享/Share ] 听 力 篇 听力在英语学习中重要的地位就不说了，没人会觉得自己已经什么都听懂了， 其实就是老外也不一定什么都听得懂。尤其是听非洲英语，阿拉伯英语，那 简直是···唉，一听头就大！练听力的话，听CNN很不错。没条件？自己 树个锅盖不就得了！就是内容有点单一，讨论的很多都是国际大事，不过那 速度听起来才叫过瘾，有时每分钟超过200个word，我很喜欢Larry King主持 的interview。听了一年后，听力水平会提高很多。其实听力是要配合词汇量 的。比如听政治news，一点都不懂国际组织名称肯定要吃亏，专四（TEM4） 的听力要求是能听懂VOA或BBC的standard news，其实是很好的练习基准点， 有条件的话可以听听ABC或CNN，难度会大大增加，增加一次的听力量，尽 可能多选诸如news feature report或talk show等超过半小时的量。精听和泛听 结合。还嫌不够的话，多看看进口大片，最好是原声的。主要就是要培养抓住 语流的本领，尽量减少语流在脑子里停留的时间，说到底就是熟悉度的问题。 想想我们是怎么听母语的，再想想我们又是如何听英语的，总结一下自己现在 的不足，是单词量不够大还是因为自己由于音发得不准对听力造成干扰。对于 达到较高英语听力水平的人来说，要想再提高，所要做的工作就会涉及很广的 内容，比如对于各种slang的掌握、对于文化差异的把握等等。听力水平的提高 是日积月累的，不要想一口吃成个胖子（搞得比我还胖！）我觉得外研社的 《英语中级听力》《英语高级听力》就不错，虽然其中的news有可能过时了， 不过训练听力还是绰绰有余的。尤其是Listen To This：3的语速很快，就我个人 的感觉，难度超过了专八的news。对于很古怪的英语，比如要你听懂马来西亚 英语，要怎么办呢？多找材料听么！（这不是废话吗！）其实地域的不同使得 英语的发音习惯也不同，有的地方的人发r音很奇怪，听没听过俄罗斯人说英语， 发的有些音和东南亚人发音差不多。学同声传译的时候，也就是拼听力的时候 了，在最短的时间内听懂source language，能为中间的转换赢得宝贵的时间。 千万不要局限自己听力训练的范围，也就是听力材料要广泛多样。记得，材料 的选择很重要，要清楚自己真正要的是什么，求质量而不是求数量！ 语 音 篇 来来来，再听听plumpcalf胡扯几句。 几乎每个英语学习者都想说出一口漂亮的美国音或英国音，只怪自己土生土长，由于汉语的四个rigid音调再加上各地不同的dialect的干扰，使得发标准音的难度大大增加了。可以说，发音的规范与否，很大程度上会影响交际的效果。尤其是对于从事英语口译职业的人来说，好的发音能使interpreter和listener的距离拉近。好象除了加强模仿和细心总结外，就没有别的方法了。我觉得李阳倡导的crazy English中的“三最”发音方法很有见地，长期如此训练能收到很好的效果。其实模仿也有很大的学问。我觉得很多英语句子都需要“一气呵成”的，也就是不妨锻炼你的肺活量，尽量在说中等长度英语句子时不要换气，这样能很好地控制 语音的起伏。要尽量揣摩英美人士说话时用感情带动语调的特点。注意句子中 失去爆破，吞音和连音的特点。其实很多人说英语是美语和英语混杂，美语以casual著称，英语以严谨和明快的节奏感闻名。所谓的mid-Atlantic English就是 能在不同的交际场合灵活地运用美音和英音。没人强求你一定要说美语还是英语，但在尽可能的情况下能始终坚持一种标准最好。当然，foreigners能明白不同的发音，就象我们能听懂老外说的奇怪的普通话一样。典型的美音喜欢卷舌发[r]音，还有hot中的o发[ɑ]等。我刚学美音时对encourage中ou发音觉得很奇怪（你发现了吗？），现在是习惯了。总之是要牢记一些不同的发音特点，还有就是大胆地说出口，不要觉得别人和你发音不同就不敢坚持自己正确的发音。多听听老外的发音是很有好处的，他们说的就是标准，当然，他们也许也会有地方音的。听磁带是很好的选择，多模仿。其实有人就是急于说得溜，对语音也不太讲究了，可是磨刀不误砍柴功，语音地道，会给你带来莫大的处。 谈到模仿，李阳听烂了好几盘磁带，你有没有？ 口 语 篇 很多人抱怨自己没有一个很好的语言环境，所以自己的口语一直上 不去，其实环境固然重要，自己的努力方法也很重要。 我的朋友听CNN时，觉得interview没什么意思，老外老是兜圈子而 不切入正题。我不那么认为。我更关注interview中双方的交流甚于 内容。interview中双方的你来我往式地对话，可以很好表现出即时交流 的谈话技巧。我录过许多盘LarryKing主持的interview磁带，每次interview 都有半小时以上，在那半小时中，主持人的风格表现得淋漓尽致， Larry King 总会从不同的角度发问，其中不乏尖锐的问题；而interviewee 有时正面回答，有时则闪烁其辞。相当多的情况下，interviewee会采取 拖延战术为自己的思考争取时间，比如“Speaking of .......well......that may be one of the fact.But I am more concerned about.....”之类的。 很多interviewee大量采用定语后置的句子，先把中心语说出，再随着 思维的成熟和具体化将句子组织完整。interviewee还会不断更正自己 刚才的错误，从中我们可以学到不少有用的句子，例如他们会说 what I really meant just now was that.....等等。 可以说，我的口语是在认真听完并总结了许多CNNinterview后得到突飞 猛进的。因为学习重点已经从单纯地叙述一件事转到准确表达自己的 思想、使对话更连贯和精益求精上了。阐述事件很简单，难就难在适时 地在交际中运用让步、递进、婉转、嘲讽、双关等语气及技巧。 不要抱怨自己没机会接触老外，认真研究一下对话的tape script，有 条件的话,听听CNN或ABC的人物专访，会有很大收获的！ 阅 读 篇 阅读也是让我操心最多的技能之一。一开始，词汇量不够，读起文章来 总是磕磕碰碰。关键词不懂，凭你猜功再怎么好也白搭！好么，我就背 单词，再阅读起来就好多了。记得最痛苦的经历是外教让我们读尼采的 The Birth of Tragedy。好家伙，晦涩难懂的美学文章，又是英文，什么 酒神啊，太阳神啊，很多同学都看不下去，我是硬着头皮，心里想着 “面包会有的，房子会有的，￥￥会有的···”（什么和什么啊？！） 查着字典啃了下来。读后的感觉啊，象是脑子里叫人灌了稀饭，玄而 又玄，稀里糊涂的（说全是水么，不对，还有米；说全是米么，哪来 这么多的水？！）反正是似懂非懂的，这才明白阅读的“难”！ 一般的文章，在词汇量达到1万时，已经是轻而易“读”了。阅读没有 什么诀窍，就是先过单词关，再涉猎广泛的材料，不要一味地读自己喜欢 的东西，你不妨也去读读尼采的文章（最好是睡不着觉时读，呵呵）。 强烈推荐华东师范大学出版社出版的《英国文化选本》和《美国文化 选本》（杨自伍主编），有不少大家的作品，我打算全背下来（不知是 不是痴人说梦），其中的议论很经典（写作时抄它几句，呵呵）。 为了准备考研和专八的阅读，我做了一个月的GRE阅读理解，那本书上 说1.3分钟一道题，那就做喽，错误率总很高。可是时间长了，错误就少 了，很高兴速度有了保证，每次都能按时finish(比如，不论篇幅大小，共 有20道阅读问题，就是20Ⅹ1.3=26分钟！）有种要飞的感觉。因此， 速度的提高是强化出来的，不逼自己，别想速度能上一个台阶。 当然，要保证质量。平时有空就读读英语，看看英文，临考时就能省下 可观的时间用于理解。要是考试时还在研究这个定语从句，那个独立主格 的，速度能快么！ 想起当初考研时必须100分钟出头做完80道阅读问题就后怕，大部分比 八级的题还难，现在叫我再做肯定不行了，这说明了一个道理，就是英语 真的要天天看，不看会生疏的。很多东西要是读了不理解，是对“英语” 还不够熟，让你多看几遍就能做对，是不是？问问自己花在“读”的时间 有多少。我曾经花了不知多少个“3小时”读枯燥的文学评论（是英文的 哦！）你呢？ 写 作 篇 好险那，与12级台风擦肩而过！（暗自窃笑，嘻嘻） “台风那个吹~~~~~~，大树那个摇~~~~~” 胖胖牛回想起去年9月透过窗子看着12级台风过境的样子，send shiver up my spine,想起《白毛女》中喜儿唱过的那句······ 听着呜呜的风声，又不能出去，只好开始瞎掰喽。虽然墨汁喝得不多 （比牛奶难喝多了！），牛皮还是能吹的！说什么呢？就写作吧。 我从来不认为自己的写作水平高，事实也是如此，唉！发现英语现在 的应试作文都是“三段论”，大结构抓住了，再添枝添叶，弄个正反 对比什么的，考虑一下层层第进，论证分明、连贯，首尾呼应，最后 来个画龙点睛，升华主题，肯定能及格！ 真的那么简单吗？ 写作是讲究细致的，即使你再满腹##，写下来都是拼错的单词，别人 看了也会摇头的，欣赏的兴致荡然无存！因此要想写得好，基本的东西 要高标准掌握。多注意比如I am 不要写成I'm之类的小规则。 写作是讲究结构的，天马行空地采用stream of consciousness手法，会 让人觉得不知所云的。很多指导写作的书都会谈到这一点。 写作是一种艺术，我们都不喜欢看见用词太general，没什么创意的文章。 这才是重点。 用词一定要准确，具体，如何具体呢？不要老用总括性的词，比如“牛”， 别老想到cow!还有bull,ox,calf（我就是plumpcalf！）等等，“笑”也有 很多种，什么giggle,grin等，我要说的是写文章时尽量具体点，用词具体！ 怎么才能做到这一点呢？多看看小说！我们能从小说中学到不少具体的词。 用的句子要地道，谈何容易啊！我的方法就是“拷贝”！不要说“抄”么， 那多难听，是不是。我copy后就paste，象在资源管理器中复制文件一样， 呵呵。要是你是存着应付的心理，抄了也“白抄”！借鉴别人的句子，对 于学习者是无可厚非的。效果好不好，就要看你如何“抄”了。不是要讲 抄的技巧，我是在强调把你抄的东西转化为自己的东西，消化吸收。 平时背背范文。要认真研究一下别人是怎么写的，看你自己写会遵循什么 思路，用什么例子和句型。把别人好的句子，好的论证手段融入你的文章 中，你的“抄”就会有不小的心得！我看了别人的好文章，都会赞叹不已， 想着自己能写出这样的就好了，然后就有背下来的冲动，口里默默念着， 就记住了。然后一有机会就“试试”，主要是强化自己对原句的理解，在 参透了范句的精华后，那个句子就是我的啦，呵呵，狠吧！ 所以要想真写得好，多背背好文章！ 另外就是多掌握几种构思的技巧，我们都说开头很重要，不妨多花点时间 在开头上。 还有的就是公文体的写作，什么通知啊，报告啊，商业文书会不会？ itinerary呢？英语的论文会写吗？啊呀，五花八门的。其实只要多注意一下 格式，多操练一下，就没什么问题，这些都是实用的文体，我们会经常 接触的。 笔 译 篇 笔译时是要靠“灵感”的，至少我那么认为。 我们固然可以学习很多的翻译理论，早有奈达的理论，近有Peter Newmark 的，有很多介绍翻译的书，如张培基的《英汉翻译教程》、吕瑞昌的《汉英 翻译教程》等。也有很多介绍翻译技巧的书，五花八门，我较喜欢看的是 刘宓庆的《文体与翻译》。有一种感觉，就是双语都得很好地掌握。 我自己常做的练习就是“视译”，这本来是训练口译的一种方法，就是看着 原文，心里译成target language。常拿着《英语世界》来练习，因为它对照 式排版方便了即时检验与学习。每期《中国翻译》杂志后都附有汉英、英汉 翻译练习，精选优美的文章，有张培基的译文和孙致礼的译文。选文有过 《落花生》等好文章。我常常花去整个晚上练习篇章翻译，再拿参考译文 对比，做到最后常常可以背出参考译文了。这有个好处，就是多了一种参考。 比如I didn't have enough to eat at that time.这句话，在口语中译成“我 那时吃不饱。”，在书面语中就译成“我那时忍饥挨饿。”因此翻译讲究 文体，建议大家也去看看《文体与翻译》，看后会有个总体的理解。 笔译是要常练的，还有就是平时要多充实自己，多看英语原文杂志和中文 书籍，在看的时候，想想如何翻译成目的语，久而久之，你的水平就能提高。 “灵感”，说穿了来自平时的积累，比如你的中文不行，翻译起英文时 就不顺，翻译腔很浓，欧式句子比比皆是，自己往往还察觉不出。因此好 的检查方法就是把自己的译作放它个两三天不理，以后才认真修订，就会 发现一大堆错误和不合习惯的译句；还有个方法是让别人提提意见，说 不定人家的意见能让你的译作增色不少。 不要说没时间练习，哪怕你挤出丁点时间翻译几个句子，都会有收获的， 笔译的练习见效不会很快，要有足够的耐心，好好练他个把月，你的功力 就会今非昔比的！要想见效快，强度一定要大，要多“研究”，很多人 不会去研究参考译文，只是对照一下就了事了，大不了照着改，其实 应该看看别人是怎么翻译的，有什么可取之出，要掌握的别人翻译的 “思路”，而不单是“成果”，这样才能进步。 这个系列文章该到尾声啦。 胖胖牛的口译只学了70多个学时（一学年），平时又没做什么练习， 因此心得很少，就谈谈我学口译的感受吧。 首先想说的一点是，不是英语好就会口译。有很多人认为只要在国外 生活个几年就能马上从事口译工作，事实并非如此。我所在的城市招 外事办的翻译，应试者有来自英国的生活在那有8年的华人，可还是 没通过。很多没经过口译系统训练的人在口译实践中，特别是同声 传译（就是那种同步翻译）中往往会慌了手脚。不知“从何说起”的 情况很多。英语水平高加上汉语水平高，能为更好地从事口译打好基础。 在学习口译的课堂上，我常发现即使平时看起来很简单的翻译也会很难 处理。在句子加长，结构复杂的情况下，译出来的效果很差，常常支离 破碎由于口译的特殊要求，在进行口译时要高度集中，脑的负荷量很大。 听力不过关就是个很大的障碍。我听过自己的口译练习录音，发现有 很多的细节很不理想（且不论译得如何）。首先是音色和音调。由于 紧张，声音很不自然，速度是会的地方很快，不会的地方吞吞吐吐。 不时还夹杂着“恩、啊”的音。毕竟口译的目的是要使双方达到在 很短的时间内充分沟通，“音”的高要求是很有必要的。 其次是译句。很多的欧式句子（没办法，英语的结构和中文的结构 有很大不同），还有很多听起来很可笑的句子，常常在译的时候发现 在汉语中应该提前说的在后面才出现，补起来很别扭。再来就是准确 性。数字搞错是常有的事，不是少了个零就是多了个零，比如 ￥560000000译成￥5600000000，好可怕呀！ 笔记也是个问题。会记了一大堆的东西，可忘了句子的连贯性。 最后就是个别“有中国特色”词语的翻译，“打工仔”怎么说，“豆腐 渣工程”呢？ 经验：多看China Daily,Beijing Review等；多看外国记者对中国的评论 (他们用的词很地道，一看就是不一样，准确、生动、简洁）。 口译对英语各方面的要求都很高，可是千万不能忘了我们的母语。 不论是笔译还是口译，英语懂了，可是不会译成中文的情况很多，中文 的功底也要好。 天呀~~~~~~~ 结 束 语 First of all,learning one thing,whatever it may be,needs the push of achievements.We all become frustated when we get the bad result.To make things worse,those irritating feelings may handicap our potential ability.So,first of all,just tryto find a field we can prove our abili ty in English learning.You may think that you are not a qualified language learner,that you don't possess the in-born ability to learn English.Throw all these stuff into the nearst trash can!Remember,always tell yourself that you can make great achievements and that you are no slower than others. Second,be patient.Rome was not built in a day.We all need time to make progress.Reading may consume a lot of your time,especailly in the situation that you read some profound material.When you find that your precious time has drained away while seemingly little progress has been made,you become disappointed and want to forget all those stuff. You may even tell yourself that there is no way for you to make any improvement in reading.You are wrong.Learning English requires perseverance.You plant yourself there and read English for several hours. You may be content with this single day.But can you form this habbit? Oh,no,really boring.Someone may shake his head.To become a really good English learner,howerver,you have to do this! Third,find a correct way of learning things.Always check what your weak points lie in.Don't rush through all the exercises.Reviewing what we have learned is very,very important.Don't tell others how many exercises you have finished in order to show how you have tried to learn better,but ask yourself whether you can give correct answers or not. Fourth,apply what we have learned whenever possible.Often forget the words you have just memorised?Use them!Apply them in oral English or writing.That will help.That is my way of memorising words.Whenever you find good sentences,copy them down and apply them in your composition. Five,do more reciting.You have still enough room in your head,do you?
