  1. A goat's horn overflowing with fruit, flowers, and grain, signifying prosperity.
  2. The horn of the goat that suckled Zeus, which broke off and became filled with fruit. In folklore, it became full of whatever its owner desired. From Wikipedia: The cornucopia , also known in English as the " Horn of Plenty", is a symbol of prosperity and affluence, dating back to the 5th century BC . In Greek mythology , Amalthea brought Zeus up on the milk of a goat. In return Zeus gave her the goat's horn. It had the power to give to the person in possession of it whatever he or she wished for. This gave rise to the legend of the cornucopia. The original depictions were of the goat's horn filled with fruits and flowers: deities, especially Fortuna , would be depicted with the horn of plenty. More modern images, such as those used in Thanksgiving murals, depict a horn-shaped wicker basket filled with fruits and vegetables. The cornucopia is also a favourite design for corn dolly making. sempre @ 2004-10-16 23:48 引用Trackback(0) | 编辑 评论 发表评论 最后更新 Recent怪异二三事 “不爱红装爱武装” IVECO @ 110km/h 网申地址 Appended 下周宣讲会及Job信息一览 近期网申一览 夜夜笙歌 cornucopia 影视作品的20个经典逻辑 奇怪啊奇怪
