We can find ugly, stupid and tragedy easily, but it is quite difficult to find something beautiful. The beauty mentioned here, does not refer to something or someone looks beautiful but its inside, besides, according to Ricky in AMERICAN BEAUTY, it can be found everywhere even in a plastic bag floating in the wind. “This bag was like dancing with me, like a little kid begging me to play with it,” he says with a smile, “and that's the day I knew there was this entire life behind things.” That's Ricky, who films all the incredible moments that life throws at us, learning to see all the beauty that most of us will never notice. When he becomes the neighbor of an ordinary but pure girl, Jane, the all-seeing judge of inner beauty, finds her beautiful. Though leading a miserable family life, Ricky and Jane try to make everything trivial seem important and worthwhile by filming it and, step back to enjoy it. They prove that everyone has an eye for beauty, and they see the beauty in their own way. It may be stupid and ugly it may be expensive and pretty, useless and pathetic but it's your beauty and you can die for it.
