Berman and Fred S. Annexstein 从教育社区的角度: “The classroom community P2P can support the classroom community is a number of ways. First, there is the common application, for the classroom usually accomplished through a website, that of making available documents and information to students. In the P2P framework, an instructor simply needs to communicate to the students the topic of the file or files to be disseminated. This is most easily done with a key word, e.g., ‘homework3’, or ‘prog7’. Multiple versions are not problematic since if the instructor has multiple versions online, users will see all versions that are available, and can easily identify the most recent. The student community Students often have much to share with each other with respect to the higher educational experience and personal interests. A P2P student community can quickly disseminate electronic information faster than otherwise possible. The exceedingly low barriers to communicate, as well as the lack of administrative oversight, is likely to be quite attractive to students and supports their publication efforts and democratic impulses. The instructor community Instructor communities can be enabled to share lesson plans, sample assignments, and other educational resources. P2P systems can index billions of files (file names), enabling large geographically dispersed users access to information, that is not possible through search engines. The scientific research community Researchers can benefit both from sharing of information about the latest research and by sharing hardware and software computational resources. Web-based collaborative tools such as Helpmate and other web conferencing applications demonstrate that the potential of P2P systems for distance learning and research is large. Today there is an effort underway to bring together the research efforts of the P2P computing with that of Grid computing community which is serving the high performance computational needs of many scientists [FI03]. ” 从个人知识管理的角度 “We believe that P2P technologies fit well into a new “personal knowledge management” paradigm which will be available to students and educators with the next generation of Internet enabled software tools and technologies. Personal knowledge management or PMK is new area of research that is becoming increasingly important, particularly for students preparing for careers in this information age (see [[DP99, FH99]]). The basic tasks associated with personal knowledge management include: (1) retrieving information; (2) evaluating/assessing information; (3) organizing information; (4) analyzing information; (5) presenting information; (6) securing information; and (7) collaborating around information. PKM is useful to educators, researchers and students alike in many activities encountered in everyday teaching, researching and learning. We propose a new model for applying P2P-systems in educational IT that integrates personal knowledge management concepts. In [BA03], Berman and Annexstein proposed a new PMK paradigm, based upon the concept of a PKM environment or PKM-E. The PKM-E model provides an easy-to-use framework for the educator, researcher and student to compile and organize focused information and securely share the information with others. The framework allows the leveraging of this store of information for improvements in the analysis and search functions associated with PKM-E.
