The AO list grew by word of mouth until, in Autumn 1993 John needed help keeping up with correspondence related to the mailing list and sending out the Notes. At that point Pete Boysen volunteered to be AO Manager. That's been a wonderful working relationship! Pete maintains the AO list and sends out Notes. John writes the Notes and sends them to Pete's queue, from whence they are sent out. In December 1996 Pete automated the system so that Notes are sent out Monday-Wednesday-Friday at 5:00 AM Iowa time (by a computer, not Pete!) In 2002, 800+ people are receiving AO Notes directly, representing several dozen countries. We are happy to hear that some people relay Notes to others.
